  <dc:description>The detail of the underside of the cast iron girder bridge at Longcliffe from the West side.  In 1864 a warning was given by William Smith, secretary and engineer, about the condition of three of the cast iron skew bridges that needed replacing because of fractures to the original girders.  Longcliffe was one of these bridges.  It was renewed with cast iron girders by Smedley Brothers of  Belper in 1865.</dc:description>
