Middleton-Rise End Middleton Incline pre 1980 with the old cast-iron girder bridge. The original cast-iron skew bridge had fractured and needed replacing, new girders from Smedley Brothers, Belper were installed in 1865-66. The accommodation bridge in the foreground has now been replaced by the new road alignment to bypass the old bridge with restricted clearance prior to the construction of Carsington Reservoir. 1970
