  <dc:title>Middleton Top</dc:title>
<dc:description>A rather dark photograph looking south-west towards the engine house and loco shed, with Intake Tip dominating the background. The last of the Middleton Top boilers was condemned by 1957. This photograph clearly postdates that as smoke is billowing fromt he tall chimney of the LNW Rly DX 0-6-0 boiler which was subsequently used to provide the steam. The boiler was housed at the eastern end of the loco shed siding partially in and out of the shed, presumably to give some shelter for the firing of the boiler.</dc:description>
