Middleton Incline Middleton Incline pre-1980 with the old cast-iron girder bridge. The original cast-iron skew bridge had factured and needed replacing; new girders from Smedley Brothers, Belper were installed in 1865-66. The accommodation bridge in the foreground has now been replaced by the new road alignmnet to bypass the old bridge with restricted clearance prior to the construction of Carsington Reservoir - May 1970
