Ogden Family of Stanley, and Soresby Family of Brailsford The collection is made up of personal papers relating to Frederick Soresby Ogden's ancestors, in particular the Ogden family of Stanley and the Soresby family of Brailsford. The families were united by the marriage in 1886 of Alexander Ogden with Eliza Soresby. Both families were prominent landowners and concerned with local administration. This probably explains the presence of many parish and legal documents in an essentially personal collection. Many of the items have no clear connection with either of the families and have been grouped together at the end of this list. However, they were undoubtedly collected by family members and give an insight into their lives and preoccupations. 1699-1973
