<dc:title>Churches’ Association for Social Work: Chesterfield and District</dc:title>
<dc:description>Preventive and rescue work started in Chesterfield a few years before the First World War when a room in Church Street was reserved for girls found wandering by the police at night. A committee of ladies was formed by Archdeacon Crosse and in 1913 a shelter for girls, called Magdalen House, was opened in Cromwell Road. A larger house was later bought in Fairfield Road.</dc:description>
