Letters sent to Elsy Norton, mainly by her husband Norman who wrote two or three times a week unless on leave with Elsy Norman was serving in B Troop 352 Search Light Battery, Royal Artillery, stationed at Hoo, near Rochester, Kent in January. In February he moved to Eastbourne with D Battery and in March moved to C Battery. At the end of May he was sent to Trondheim, Norway, as part of the operation rounding up German troops.
