Letters sent to Elsy Hall, later Norton, mainly from Norman Norton, until Norman was demobbed in 1946. The letters include references to Norman's wartime work, attitudes to the war and to American soldiers, entertainment especially films, difficulties of travelling and rationing, family matters, preparations for the wedding and plans for the future, as well personal thoughts. Norman wrote two or three times a week and Elsy wrote less often. In many cases the letters can only be dated to month and year by the postmark on the envelope. 1939-1946
