Extract from Minutes of Board of Directors of Midland Railway Company held at Derby, Wednesday, 6 Sept 1854 Reciting William Longsdon's letter of 17 July 1854 from Hamilton, Upper Canada, to John Ellis, Chairman, Midland Railway. No prospect of being able to leave this Country for some months - resigns seat on Midland Board which he does not feel can retain with propriety. Received while accepting his resignation regret that circumstances have arisen which induce him to resign, warm appreciation and best wishes for health and happiness.
