Western Mere School, Breaston Records 1957-1989. Western Mere School opened in 1957 as an 11-16 age co-educational non-selective secondary school, becoming a fully comprehensive school by the 1970s. The school closed in July 1988 although the building remained in use until July 1989 as an annexe to Spondon School, renamed West Park Community School in the reorganisation. These records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in July 1990. 1957-1989
