  <dc:title>Stanley Belgian Refugee Committee</dc:title>
<dc:description>This committee was established c1914/1915 to provide a home for a family of Belgian refugees. The Stanley Kilburn Colliery Company allowed the use of a cottage rent free at Stanley Brickyard. A weekly subscription in the parish provided an income, until the refugees became self supporting by following their trade. The Burgos and Tuerlinckx families arrived in Dec 1914 and left in 1917 and 1919.</dc:description>
