<dc:title>Benefice Income: Tithe lead ore account books</dc:title>
<dc:description>The vicar of Wirksworth was entitled to a proportion of every dish of lead mined. The proportion was set in 1778 at 1/40th of every dish, though the vicar argued it had earlier been 1/10th of every dish on a new freeing. The tithe lead ore account books give details by mine, with the name of the worker. The book covering 1782-1794 (D3105/A/PI/9/5) is marked ‘Dean of Lincoln’s tithe ore book’. The Dean of Lincoln was patron and appropriator of the living of Wirksworth</dc:description>
