Elias returns 10 acres of land held to farm from the surrender of William, son of Roger of Barewe Witnesses: Brothers Waldeses, Henry Blundel, Robert de Holm, Robert de Orat and others The grant, on vellum, is mounted on a piece of parchment, endorsed with a translation of the document by Thomas Hughes [19th c] and an unrelated memorandum of the gift of the church of Barrow (Cheshire) by Robert de Backepuze to the Knight's Hospitallers of St John of Jerusalem, late 12th c [19th c] The endorsement on this document wrongly identifies a gift of the Church at Barrow with Great Barrow in Cheshire. The gift refers to the Church of Barrow-upon-Trent in Derbyshire [c1280-1291]
