Draft petition to the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster by the Attorney General at the information of Anne Primate of St Martin in the Fields (Middx) widow, her husband Josiah Primate, decd, having spent £3,000 in attempting to drain the mines at Bayly Croft, Stony Croft, Barley Flatts, Over Croft and Great Lease, Wirksworth without success and therefore having taken a fourth share in building a sough to drain the same (reciting articles of agreement) and whereas ore to the value of £5,000 has been got by means of the sough and whereas one Edmund Ford, as agent for Sir John Gell, and others, has withheld her share of the ore and turned it to his own use having taken possession of all the account books for the said sough, that Gell etc be called to account for their action and to produce the articles of agreement, so that her right to her husband's share may be established [c1672]
