Further information: According to the Summary of Facts on the Tribunal Referral, the claimant had an industrial accident on 11 July 1957 when he trapped his left hand between two tubs. He returned to work on 9 September 1957 and claimed industrial disablement benefit.  Special Hardship Allowance was disallowed from 14 January 1959  due to earnings, of which there is detailed information in the paperwork and there is dispute as to the average wages. The claimant's grounds of appeal dated 4 February 1959 state 'Having tried to do my own work, I am in danger of receiving a further accident, because I cannot grip with my left hand and I have to get in a dangerous position to use my right hand.' the appeal was disallowed but the claimant was advised that if his earnings changed he should make another application.</dc:description>
