<dc:title>Local Appeal Tribunal case file for Arthur Sidney Dakin, aged 43, Stripper at [colliery not stated]</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Date of birth:
Marital status: Not given
Address: 6 Devonshire Close, Cotmanhay
Type of benefit claimed: Special Hardship Allowance
Type of injury: Shoulder injury
Further information: Mr Dakin was involved in a pit accident on 4 October 1952 and sustained a lacerated back with bruising. There is some conflict of medical opinion between the Doctor and the Medical Board, with the Doctor finding a limitation of movement of the right shoulder but the medical board finding no such limitation. The notes on the Report of Proceedings include 'Claimant says he would go stripping if he was fit. He's tried and been brought off the coal face so many times the manager won't let him go to the face now.' The hearing of 16 May 1956 (which had been adjourned from 18 April 1956) found in favour of Mr Dakin.</dc:description>
