Description | (18th century fake or joke). John Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster to Edward Munday of Marton (Derbys), knight. Relates the naming of Hawkesyard during a hawking expedition on 10th May, 1399, and grant of this place to Munday.
A note at the bottom (part of the document) states that it is about 372 years since Edward III granted the Duchy of Lancaster to John Gaunt. |
