| Administrative History | The first Methodist school and chapel in Furness Vale was built on Yeardsley Lane in 1822, but as early as 1812 a Methodist group met together in various locations, one of which is thought to have been Howcroft Farm. In 1840 a new place of worship was erected on Station Road. Development of these premises took place in 1864, and in 1884 the Church and Sunday School were restructured in their present form. At that time, the Church was part of the New Mills Methodist Circuit.
The Church building closed at the end of August 2002, although members continued to meet as Furness Vale Methodist Church at the premises of St. John's. |
