Description	Thomas Pares purchased one-tenth of the manor of Ockbrook from Sir James Winter Lake, baronet, in 1786, along with the Hopwell estate [see series D5336/1/7]. The manor had been divided into ten shares in 1583 [see D5336/1/10/41]. The Pares family purchased a further share from Thomas Cooper in 1815 [see bundle D5336/1/10/4 below], plus a number of smaller pieces of land. Many of the items in this series relate to property owned by the Osbourne and Piggen families. For personal and financial papers associated with these families, see section D5336/2/22 below.
