Administrative History	The Gaol was built in 1827 and was closed in 1916. It is believed that these records were dumped shortly after the Gaol's closure. They were found in the old execution pit of the Gaol at South Street in Derby.
Custodial History	The records were donated to Derbyshire Record Office in August 1997.

Physical Description	The records were stored in very poor physical conditions, and even after conservation treatment they still need to be handled with care. Incomplete series
