Administrative History
This company was initiated in 1900 by manufacturers in the area to be supplied, who formed a limited company to obtain the necessary Acts of Parliament and who built a generating station at Ilkeston prior to 1905. The company was incorporated under three Acts of Parliament in 1901, 1902 and 1904 to supply electricity in the mining and manufacturing districts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The Ilkeston power station was taken out of use in 1932.
