| Description | i) Petition Edward Lowe of Charles I.
Concerning a petition made by him the previous March touching certain charters and grants made to his ancestors, which the King referred to the attorney general and the attorney of the Duchy of Lancaster for advice. The advice now having been delivered, he requests the King to give a warrant to the attorney general for the preparation of a bill for the King's signature, confirming the said grants with such additions as may be thought fit. With note signed by Thomas Aylesbury that the King wills that the petition be referred to the Lord Keeper, the Lord Treasurer and the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and if they think it may be conveniently granted, then a bill is to be prepared for his signature. 16 Jan, 1629
ii) Petition of Edward Lowe to Charles I 1628
Asking that, in view of the great fee farms rent which he pays for the property, a grant of the manor of Alderwasley by Henry VIII to Anthony Lowe should be confirmed to him with such additions as may be thought fit. With note signed by Sidney Montague that it is the King's pleasure that the petition be referred to the attorney general and the attorney of the Duchy of Lancaster for advice. Endorsed with a recommendation by Robert Heath and Edward Mosley that the petition be granted, dated 2 Dec 1629. iii) Articles accompanying the petition of Edward Lowe asking that all previous royal grants to his ancestors be confirmed with power to enclose Shyning Cliffe and the pasture of Millhay Ward, otherwise Colebrooke ward, and the Strawcliffe, otherwise Norwood, in Alderwasley and to make a park thereof, confirmation of free warren and all liberties pertaining to the manor, to confirm to Lowe the half of the stream of the Derwent from Cromford Bridge to Belper Bridge with liberty to fish and fowl in the upon the same, to confirm the mills of Ashlehay and Alderwasley with the soke and customes pertaining thereto, the river called Ecklesbrone and all floods, dams and ponds with the suit of all freeholders and copyholders thereto and power to levy penalties in default, that neither the petitioner nor his heirs to compelled to serve on juries and inquisitions in Derbyshire, grant of the goods and chattels of all felons, outlaws and fugitives, grant of the return and execution of writs within the said manor and prohibition to royal officers to interfere in the same, power to hear and determine pleas within the said manor, grant of all forfeits and penalties within the same of all persons that shall fish or fowl or use guns, handguns or crossbows contrary of the laws of the realm and grant of a licence to shoot guns, handguns and crossbows within the said manor.
