Title
John Wilkes to same: "if I return, my actions against Halifax etc. must succeed, and immediately. I am warmly press'd to it, with magnigicent promises from a certain quarter; yet if I find the present ministry my friends, I will not embarass them. On the contrary, my disposition is pacific, if theirs is friendly. Mr. Walpole has often favour'd me with his company. He intends to propose the grant of £1000 per annum for 30 years on the Irish Establishment, in another name, for my use. I think this is the manner of doing me justice, and in that case I give up all claims against Halifax etc." From Paris, 30 December
