- 29 April: "my heart bleeds for you and your health"; will sell the English estates to meet debts, if necessary
- 1 July: reports attempts to get William a diplomatic posting
- 4 October: "I cannot say much for I am afflicted with the nervous headach I had some years ago, & terrible spirits. God grant you may never know them
