DescriptionA Survey and Platt of the Demean belonging to the Ridge Hall and several farms in Chappel-le-Frith. The Estates of Thos. Bagshaw Esqr. is humbly presented by Saml. Hutchinson [1713]. Surveyor: Samuel Hutchinson. Scale: a Scale of twenty chains, 22 yards each [1:5200]. Size: 80 x 66 cm., irregular. Materials: ink on vellum with coloured boundaries. Centred on: SK059788 Notes: compass rose. Demesne land south of Chapel-en-le-Frith to Over-end, with roads, topographical features: scattered farmhouses are shown with their land, field-names: farmhouses drawn in simple profile and named, e.g. Hallsteads, March Farm, but The Ridge is drawn in plan with outline of yard and garden: in Chapel-en-le-Frith the houses are in block diagram except the steepled church and a house on north side of the market place: roads, paths: attention is shown to the landscape, the steeply rising ground around the Moss, Lady Low and Cow Low, Castle Naze, Dovehole mouth, noted.
