Administrative History | The Jovial Dutchman was a public house on the Cromford Road in Crich. The name is thought to derive from the Dutch labourers who helped dig Cromford Canal in the late 18th century. It closed in 2009.
Under the Spirits Act of 1880 (43 and 44 Vic, cap 24), every supplier of alcoholic spirits had to maintain stock books recording details of spirits sent out and received. The records in this collection were created in compliance with that legislation. |
Custodial History | These records were donated to Derbyshire Record Office in May 2009 |
