Administrative History | Brookbottom Methodist Church in Hartington Upper Quarter opened in 1874. A number of years prior to the erection of the church, the congregation met in rooms of a nearby building, the Sunday School taking place in the basement. In 1873 land was leased for the erection of a church and on 18 April, 1874, the foundation stone was laid. The church celebrated its centenary in 1974.
