TitleLong Eaton Old People's Welfare Committee/Work and Fellowship Association
Date1950-1957
DescriptionConstitution, reports, correspondence

Long Eaton Old People's Welfare Committee was founded in 1950, with the assistance of the Urban District Council (UDC). The committee (later known as Long Eaton Elder Citizens Welfare) aimed to promote social and leisure activities for people over the age of 55 in the Long Eaton area. This included responsibility for the Elder Citizens Club and Welbeck Club (each of which had its own management committee for day-to-day affairs). It was a registered charity between July 1963 and February 2008.

Long Eaton Work and Fellowship Association for the Elderly was set up to manage a workroom scheme which allowed older people in Long Eaton and district to earn money under protected conditions. Although the Association was inaugurated in 1964, its inception was in the previous year, when a public meeting called by the UDC chairman (at the request of Long Eaton Rotary Club) heard from a representative of a charity called the Employment Fellowship. The Association was a registered charity from November 1964 to February 1996.

Both series in this collection derive from the groups' co-operation with Long Eaton UDC, and consist of the copies of minutes, reports and correspondence that were submitted to the Council for information.
