Administrative History
The William Holmes Almshouses were established under the provisions of a bequest in the will of William Holme of Ripley who died in February 1924. The almhouses were opened in April 1925. The almshouses re-opened after renevations in 1985.
The Ellis-Fermor Charity was created by the will of E. J. Ellis-Fermor in 1935. A distribution was made each Christmas to the local poor. In 1993 the trustees of William Holmes Almshouses gained responsibility for administering the Ellis-Fermor Charity.
Custodial History
These records were deposited at Derbyshire Record Office by the charity in September 2007. A further deposit was received in March 2020.
