Archive CreatorW A Hiscox Ltd of Derby
Administrative HistoryW.A.Hiscox Ltd were quarry machinery manufacturers located in Stuart Street, Derby. They first appear in Kelly's Directory of 1928 and appear again in 1936. The founder of W.A. Hiscox Ltd was William Arthur Hiscox who died in 1948. His son Ernest William Hiscox ran the business until September 1971 when the business went into voluntary liquidation. All of the photographs in the promotional brochures were taken by Ernest William Hiscox whose hobby was photography and who became a fellow of the Royal Photographic Society later on. The records were donated to the Record Office by a private individual via the Buxton Museum service.
