Administrative HistoryEric Hare was born on 1 March 1911 at 27 Nightingale Road, Derby. During the Second World War he lived with his wife and two children at 19 Bellevue Crescent in Duffield and joined the National Fire Service, which was set up under the National Fire Service (Emergency Provisions) Act 1941. The National Fire Service administered a national force of 350 000 men and women until 1947. In 1946 Eric Hare moved to Matlock Bath as the Works Manager of the High Tor Colour Company, retiring from there as a Director in 1976.
