Administrative History
The school opened in 1860 and was maintained by Messrs Coke and Co until 1876 when it was taken over by Pinxton School Board as Kirkstead Board School. In 1903 it became a council school and in 1937 the boys and girls departments merged to form a senior mixed school. The school closed in 1964. An Evening Continuation School, later Evening Institute, was associated with the school and was replaced in 1966.
